Jelena Jankovic returns to the world No 1 ranking after winning back-to-back Tour titles for the first time.
The Serbian player took victory at the Stuttgart Grand Prix by defeating Nadia Petrova in the final having secured the Beijing Masters crown a week earlier.
Former No 1 Serena Williams drops to second in the world after she suffered an embarrassing first-round defeat at the hands of China's Li Na in Germany.
