This Week's Calendar
Sunday is the Feast of St Bartholomew
who is sometimes identified
with the Fourth Gospel's Nathaniel.
Legend says Bartholomew travelled
to take the Gospel to India
& was martyred by being skinned alive.
He is thus the patron saint
of tanners & butchers & hospitals.
His body was washed ashore at Lipari
off the coast of Sicily.
It was so heavy men could not lift it;
but children came & did so easily!
