CYCLING: ICU to double ban length
The ICU are to introduce four-year bans for the most serious drugs offences, president Pat McQuaid has revealed.
McQuaid has announced plans to double the UCI's maximum sanction next year in the wake of recent positives tests for Stefan Schumacher and Bernhard Kohl.
He said: "Considering they were given the product and took it for the Tour, it'd be classified as willful cheating. A rider would face a four-year ban."
Cooke aims to inspire
Nicole Cooke is focused on inspiring the next generation of Great Britain cyclists ahead of the 2012 Olympics.
The Olympic and world champion will release her 'Cycle for Life' book on Thursday and is also engaged in a number of charity projects.
She said: "If, in four years' time, I could look back and say I helped someone achieve her dream, that is beyond anything you can describe."
