SNOOKER: Higgins storms to victory
John Higgins delighted his home fans by easing into the second round of the Royal London Watches Grand Prix.
The Wishaw potter recorded breaks of 97, 65, 134 and 58 as he took just 92 minutes to dispatch Anthony Hamilton 5-0 in Glasgow, but admitted he still has concerns about his game.
He said: "I'm capable of stringing a few matches together, but I'm not doing that regularly enough."
Perry survives fightback
Joe Perry survived a spirited fightback from Barry Hawkins to reach the second round at the Royal London Watches GP.
Perry squandered a 3-0 advantage as Hawkins hit breaks of 75 and 61 on his way to drawing level, but his comeback proved in vain and he bowed out 5-3.
Perry admitted: "The scoreline (3-0) said I was cruising, but I never felt comfortable out there. I didn't play anywhere near my best form."

Hendry support for unionFormer world No 1 Stephen Hendry has described the formation of a new players' trade union as "a no-brainer".
John Higgins and manager Pat Mooney are behind the Association of Snooker Professionals, and Hendry is surprised it has taken this long to create.
Hendry said: "There are a lot of disgruntled players and there have been issues with players not trusting each other. This could bring them together."
