England have a great chance in the Rugby League World Cup. Australia are weakened by loss the of Hodges to injury and Gasnier to union. Their chief enforcer Willie Mason will also be absent, and the talismanic Darren Lockyer is not the player of five years ago. Tony Smith has picked an adaptable, skilful, quick team, which should be able to cope with both the climate and the likes of Australia, New Zealand, and the Samoans. The Biff is back - bring it on! Mark, Preston
Re: Paul. I would love to see Trulli win for Toyota. A good, solid, skilful driver and keeps out of trouble. I would agree with you there. J Dick, Broxburn
I enjoyed the John Parrott v Mark King and Steve Davis v Neil Robertson matches. Love the lady officials - smart, efficient, and attractive too. Peggy, P016
I am totaly disgusted with my club Castleford at their lack of respect. Not a word has been said at the sad loss of ex-Tiger Adam Watene - heartfelt wishes to his family, and shame on you, Cas directors. Shaz, Castleford
Re: Allan, Ayr. I love watching snooker - it's better than watching over-hyped over-paid footballers diving and falling over like they've been shot. Martin, Ipswich
Re: Jim, Basingstoke. I did see the interview and, as ever, if only Lewis had left it at that. To come out later and say Massa deliberately hit him is paranoid and makes no sense. They both could have been out and what would Massa gain? And Lewis would have hit Kimi if he hadn't gone off. Lewis, it seems, can dish it out but can't take it. Elle, BT7
England won the first Rugby League World Cup in 1954 against France in Paris before a capacity crowd. It is highly likely they will again lift this superb trophy before another sellout audience, but this time in Brisbane on November 22. L Hurst, Cheltenham
Re: Henry. A certain Michael Schumacher drove into Jacques Villeneuve in 1997 at a crucial point but it didn't work out - he knocked himself off the road. Alan, Huddersfield
Rocky Marciano, sole world heavyweight boxing champion 1952-1956. Undefeated in 49 fights (43 KOs). Spent up to three months in an isolated training camp, no family or friends, just trainers, sparring partners and doctor. On the night, blamed his opponent for the deprivation and usually won by an early KO. If Martin Johnson is able to instill a fraction of the Marciano syndrome into the England rugby team, the next World Cup is on its way back home to Twickenham. J Howe, Somerton.
Re: S Lord. Pretty fair assessment. A draw isn't enough for us to feel content but Rana and Khan's OTT praise for India and Singh show they're happy to settle for less than us.
I wasn't sure Ricky should've declared when he did. More time at the crease would have given India less time to catch up and might have been wiser. Opinion up here is divided. What do you think? Johnson and Hussey impressed me most. Jan, Edinburgh
Re Henry, Grantham. Yes, drivers do hit their rivals at crucial times, even if it could be to their detriment. Schumacher did it to Hill and Senna to Prost. Sometimes it goes in their favour, sometimes it does not. Jill, NE37
I see that Alonso has now said that Hamilton and Massa fear making mistakes. Is that to try to hide the mistake he has made in saying he may take Lewis out? Jackie, London
Re: S Lord. Exactly when were you proud last? Beating New Zealand, a bunch of no-hopers? Because you have not beaten the Aussies, South Africa or India lately. Face the fact that the mighty England are in the second tier of Test cricket, with the also-rans! Leave the real cricket to the big three, which happens to be - you guessed it - the Aussies, South Africa and India. Rana, Derby
