James Coppinger scored a stunning hat- trick as Doncaster set up an all- Yorkshire League One play-off final.
After Southend's James Walker hit the bar, Brian Stock opened the scoring from the spot (11) and Adam Barrett headed into his own goal (21).
Coppinger then stole the show with two fine solo goals (39, 52) before curling home a delightful free-kick (80). Nicky Bailey netted late for Southend (88).
Sean happy to buck trend
Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll was pleased to see his side buck the trend of tough home ties in this season's play-offs with a 5-1 win over Southend.
James Coppinger's fine hat-trick added to Brian Stock's penalty and Adam Barrett's own goal to seal victory.
O'Driscoll said: "A lot of teams have struggled with their home legs. I just thought we had to match Southend's determination and we did that well."
