Leicester 12 Ospreys 6
Leicester made a winning start to their Heineken Cup campaign with a deserved victory over a poor Ospreys side.
The Tigers dominated the opening half at Welford Road and spurned chances. Toby Flood kicked four penalties to open up a 12-3 lead, with Shane Williams responding with a drop goal.
James Hook's penalty narrowed the gap but it was not enough as Leicester closed out the game.
Meyer praises Flood
Leicester boss Heyneke Meyer hailed Toby Flood's performance after Tigers launched their Heineken Cup campaign with victory over the Ospreys.
Fly-half Flood kicked all Leicester's points as they secured a 12-6 triumph at Welford Road.
Meyer said: "I thought Toby was brilliant. I wanted him to step his game up to the next level, and I felt he was outstanding."
Holley: Happy with point
Ospreys head coach Sean Holley declared himself happy with a losing bonus point after his side's defeat by Leicester Tigers at Welford Road.
The 12-6 Heineken Cup setback puts the Welsh region on the back foot in pool three, but Holley feels the point his side earned could be vital.
He said: "We are very pleased with the losing bonus point. We are right in this pool, fighting."
