Lon Irish 27 Saracens 14

London Irish leapt up to second place in the Guinness Premiership with this excellent victory.

Sarries held an 11-8 half-time lead through Wikus van Heerden's try and six points from the boot of Glen Jackson, Tom Homer crossing for the Exiles.

Flanker Richard Thorpe then put the hosts in front with his try before Homer capped his Premiership debut with his second score of the game.

Wasps 12 Sale 13

Sale ended their run of three-straight Guinness Premiership defeats as they heaped further misery on Wasps thanks to Mark Cueto's late try.

The hosts led 12-6 at the interval with Dave Walder knocking over four penalties, Charlie Hodgson replying with two of his own for the Sharks.

The second half seemed destined to end scoreless until Cueto produced a fine finish to break Wasps hearts.
