Duo arrested for chants
Middlesbrough police have arrested two men for racial chanting during the Middlesbrough versus Newcastle Tees-Tyne derby match last Saturday.
The men, aged 49 and 23, have been ordered to appear before Teesside Magistrates on December 9.
A Middlesbrough spokesman said: "We have a strong anti-racism stance and, working with the police, we will not hesitate to ban fans found guilty."
We'll get tough, vow FA
The FA plan to "take the strongest possible action" against anyone found guilty of Islamophobic or racist chanting against Middlesbrough's Mido.
The Egyptian striker was targeted by Newcastle fans as he warmed up at the Riverside Stadium last weekend, and he has called for tough sanctions.
An FA spokesman said: "We fully support banning orders for anyone convicted of racist chanting."
Mido blames FA for abuse
Middlesbrough striker Mido has blamed the FA for the Islamophobic chanting he suffered against Newcastle.
The FA will look into reports of abuse directed at the Egyptian, but he claims their lack of action when it happened last year led to a repeat incident.
He told Al Haya: "I considered this as an invitation from the FA to the fans to repeat such acts. I can assure you, nothing is going to happen this time."
