India v England
England slumped to a third successive defeat in the ODI series as India won by 16 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis method as bad light ended play.
The hosts had reached 198-5 from 40 overs, chasing 241 to win, when the umpires called a halt in Kanpur.
Ravi Bopara, promoted to opener, had top scored for England with 60, while spinner Harbhajan Singh (3-31) took his 200th one-day international wicket.
KP rues farcical finish
Kevin Pietersen admitted the 16-run defeat by India in the third ODI was a "bitter pill to swallow" after the match was ended by bad light in Kanpur.
The officials opted to reduce the game to 49 overs and only shortened lunch to 30 minutes after a 45-minute delay to the start due to early-morning mist.
Pietersen said: "I knew when the decisions were made there was no way we were going to get this game finished."
KP: We fought hard
Captain Kevin Pietersen believes England are "getting closer" to their first win of the ODI series in India.
The tourists now trail 3-0 after defeat in the gloom of Kanpur but Pietersen felt there were positives to be drawn from an improved performance.
He told Sky Sports: "We had a real good chance of finishing on top. The boys fought hard and showed aggression. We had a real good go at it."
Kirsten backs officials
India coach Gary Kirsten backed the match officials after the third ODI in Kanpur was ended early by bad light.
Despite being aware the light would go quickly, the umpires only reduced the game to 49 overs a side and India had nine overs left when the game ended.
But Kirsten said: "They couldn't have set up the game knowing there was going to be bad light, they had to set it up according to the time available."
Dhoni not in the dark
India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni always thought conditions in Kanpur would mean the third ODI would be decided on the Duckworth-Lewis method.
The hosts were well ahead of the run rate when the umpires decided the conditions were too dark to continue.
Dhoni told Sky Sports: "We knew that it would come in to play here, it gets dark after 4.15pm. We knew if we didn't lose a couple of wickets we'd be OK."
Tendulkar back for India
Sachin Tendulkar has been named in the India team for the remaining four one-day internationals against England.
Tendulkar opted out of the first three one-dayers, but has declared his availability for the remaining matches, with Murali Vijay dropped altogether.
Tendulkar has not played a one-dayer since January, missing the tri-nation series in Bangladesh, the Asia Cup in Pakistan and the Sri Lanka series.
