City seal Uefa Cup spot
Manchester City have been awarded a place in the Uefa Cup next season.
Sven-Goran Eriksson's side held off a challenge from Premier League rivals Fulham to finish sixth in the English Fair Play table, above any team who has not already qualified for Europe.
City will enter the competition at the first qualifying-round stage in July but will not be able to play at Eastlands as the pitch is being relaid.
Sven: Europe is a 'dream'
Boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has described Manchester City's qualification for the Uefa Cup as a "dream".
The Eastlands side secured a European place through the Fair Play table, boosting Eriksson's case after speculation over his future.
He told the club website: "It is like the dream came true. Our dream to play in Europe has been strong all season. This news is absolutely fantastic."
Thaksin denies stories
Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has issued a statement denying newspaper reports that he has put the entire first team up for sale.
Stories had also suggested Shinawatra had written a critical letter to all the players regarding their performances throughout the season.
But Thaksin said: "There is absolutely no truth in this story. I appreciate the progress of the squad."
