Chambers verdict Friday

British sprinter Dwain Chambers will not find out if his lifetime Olympics ban will be lifted until Friday.

He is seeking a court order to temporarily suspend a ban on competing in Games events imposed by the BOA because of his past use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Chambers's laywers are trying to convince Mr Justice Mackay that the BOA bylaw is unfair.

Jackson - Ban Chambers

Former 110m hurdles world record holder Colin Jackson believes Dwain Chambers should be given a lifetime ban.

Chambers has gone to the High Court to obtain an injunction allowing him to compete at the Olympics in Beijing despite his BOA drug ban.

Jackson told the Sun: "I think these people should have a complete life ban. He knew the rules of our sport and the BOA and he took the risk."

Douglas best of British

Montell Douglas has smashed the UK women's 100m record at Loughborough.

The 22-year-old Londoner - whose previous best was 11.28sec - was aided by a following wind of two-metres-per- second as she clocked 11.05sec to erase Kathy Cook's long-standing mark.

Douglas is now certain to be picked for the Olympics after her display, which came on the back of last weekend's trial race runner-up placing.

GB team in pillow talk

British officials are leaving nothing to chance ahead of the Olympics to the extent they are ensuring athletes get the best night's sleep possible.

All 308 athletes have been issued with the same pillow they will have in Beijing and bed extensions have been organised for super-size competitors.

BOA chef de mission Simon Clegg said: "We know getting a good night's sleep is an important thing for athletes."

IAAF back Pistorius

The IAAF have made it clear that they fully support Oscar Pistorius in his bid to represent South Africa at next month's Olympic Games.

The world governing body quashed suggestions Pistorius would not be allowed to compete in his country's 4x400m relay team in Beijing.

A statement read: "Mr Pistorius is welcome to seek qualification for the Olympics and future competitions."
