ATHLETICS: Pistorius ban overturned
Double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius will be allowed to compete alongside able-bodied athletes for a place at the Olympics after winning his appeal.
The IAAF ruled Pistorius's artificial limbs unfairly enhance his performance, but the South African had that decision overturned with immediate effect by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
He said: "I look forward to continuing my quest to qualify for the Olympics."
IAAF accept decision
IAAF president Lamine Diack insists Oscar Pistorius will be welcomed wherever he chooses to participate.
The IAAF's decision to ban the double-amputee sprinter from competing at their events has been overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Diack said: "The IAAF accepts the decision. Oscar is an inspirational man and we look forward to admiring his achievements in the future."
Montgomery jailed
Former sprinter Tim Montgomery has been sentenced to 46 months in prison for his role in a cheque-fraud scheme.
Attorneys for Montgomery had agreed with prosecutors that, having pleaded guilty, a sentence of between 37 to 46 months in prison was appropriate.
The American was already behind bars, however, having been arrested charged with conspiracy to possess with intent and to distribute heroin in Virginia.
