Fergie: Ronaldo will stay

Sir Alex Ferguson insists he would place a "big bet" on Cristiano Ronaldo staying at Manchester United.

The Portuguese star has been linked with Real Madrid but Ferguson was adamant the player is going nowhere.

The Scot responded to a Spanish journalist's question by saying: "You get some idiots in this place don't you? If you want to have a bet on it, I'll put a big bet on with you."

Fergie wants Euro glory

Sir Alex Ferguson is determined to clinch the European Cup against Chelsea after admitting Manchester United's continental record is not good enough.

The Red Devils have won the competition twice, compared with Real Madrid's nine European Cups and Liverpool's five.

Ferguson said: "There is a weakness in the European trophies we've won and I hope we can go some way to making that better on Wednesday night."

Brown - Final is one-off

Manchester United defender Wes Brown insists the domestic meetings with Chelsea will have no bearing on the European Cup final on Wednesday.

Both sides won their home matches against each other but Brown claims this will count for nothing in Moscow.

The 28-year-old said: "This is a cup final. We know the players, it's a one-off match and we will definitely be prepared to beat them."
