Blackburn have confirmed they have agreed compensation terms with Manchester City over boss Mark Hughes.

Jewell rules out Rovers

Paul Jewell insists his "only focus is Derby" after he was linked with a move to Premier League club Blackburn.

Rovers manager Mark Hughes is set to hold talks with Manchester City and is thought to be on Chelsea's shortlist to replace Avram Grant at Stamford Bridge.

Jewell said: "My name has been bandied around in the media and I wanted to move as quickly as possible to commit to Derby County. This is a huge club."

Royle: Hughes is top boss

Joe Royle believes Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has the character to manage either Chelsea or Manchester City.

Hughes is in demand after establishing Rovers as one of the top teams in the country and Royle insists the former Wales coach has the right credentials.

He told Sky Sports News: "Mark doesn't suffer fools. He has the character, you would think, to go and try one of those big jobs if he feels it's right."
