Gill broadside from Rafa

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has taken a swipe at Manchester United chief executive David Gill.

He has followed up his blast at manager Sir Alex Ferguson by questioning Gill also holding a senior role at the FA.

Benitez said: "Is there a conflict of interest? It is a fact that one person has a lot of power and control, and is on a lot of committees in the FA. To me, that is very strange."

Riera ready for big push

Liverpool midfielder Albert Riera insists the Reds will not be found wanting when the title race hots up.

Reigning champions Manchester United narrowed the gap on the Barclays Premier League leaders to five points by defeating Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard told the Liverpool Echo: "I can tell our fans that we will compete for every single point in every game that we play."
