Ex-Green candidate joined BNP

The Green Party has revealed a former parliamentary candidate for Cheltenham joined the British National Party.

Details of Keith Bessant, who ran for the seat in 2001 and 2005, appear on the leaked list of the far right party's entire membership register.

The Green Party said Mr Bessant, from Cheltenham, thought the BNP's climate change policy was "more radical".
