Seabirds season hailed

National Trust Wardens say seabirds on the Farne Islands off the North Northumberland coast have had a good breeding season despite poor weather.

The islands are home to over 80,000 pairs of breeding seabirds and there have been increases in the population of eider ducks and shags.

But breeding pairs of puffins are down by almost a third to 36,500.
