Nunthorpe suits Best
John Best is delighted that the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes has been rescheduled for Newmarket today.
The trainer will saddle two contenders as Windsor Castle Stakes winner Flashmans Papers joins last year's hero Kingsgate Native in the line-up.
Best said: "Kingsgate Native is in good form, everything's fine. I would have preferred the race to have been at York but at least we're running."
Flashmans no slouch
John Best believes his 2yo star Flashmans Papers can run Kingsgate Native close in the Nunthorpe Stakes.
The trainer said: "I don't know what price Flashmans Papers is but he wouldn't be a million miles behind Kingsgate Native.
"If Kingsgate Native got a bad run and Flashmans Papers got a good run then it wouldn't be the biggest surprise to see Flashmans Papers beat him."
Secret needs the run
Hughie Morrison believes Sakhee's Secret will need the run when he lines up in the rearranged Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at Newmarket.
The handler said: "It was a last-minute decision to declare him and we feel he will definitely need the race.
"He's probably not quite back to his best just yet but the ground is right and he likes the track so we just thought we should get a run into him."
Smart wants rain
Bryan Smart hopes there is some cut in the ground to allow Captain Gerrard to be seen at his best in the Nunthorpe.
He said: "I would rather they had a bit more rain to be honest as he needs some cut. He is in great order though and what will be will be, so we will just have to hope for the best."
Smart also saddles Moorhouse Lad and added: "Moorhouse Lad is well and he will love the ground."
