Conduit takes Turf test
Ladbrokes St Leger winner Conduit has been given the green light to contest the Breeders' Cup Turf at Santa Anita.
The Ballymacoll Stud-owned 3yo broke Sir Michael Stoute's long-standing duck in the oldest Classic last month.
The stud's racing manager Peter Reynolds said: "The plan is to go for the Breeders' Cup. If he can manage to win this after winning a Leger it would be great for his stud value."
O'Brien plots dual raid
Aidan O'Brien is planning to let both Duke Of Marmalade and Henrythenavigator tackle the Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita on Saturday week.
The handler has already booked US jockey John Velasquez to ride whichever colt Johnny Murtagh rejects in the 10f feature, run on a synthetic track.
O'Brien told the Independent: "We feel they're in good form, and obviously we think they'll be OK on the surface."
That's the spirit
Jeremy Noseda will take "a little gamble" with Fleeting Spirit as she runs in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.
The 3yo finished fifth in the re-run of the Prix de l'Abbaye after being left in the stalls in the original race.
Noseda told his website: "Having looked at the likely participants - and in view of the likelihood of not running until May - we felt it was time to take a little gamble and give it a whirl."
Icon all set
Jeremy Noseda has confirmed that Sixties Icon is likely to line up in the inaugural running of the Breeders' Cup Marathon at Santa Anita.
The trainer said: "He ought to be very competitive, although we are looking forward with interest to seeing the full list of entries.
"He has always worked well on the Polytrack at home and the reports suggest the surface is very similar."
