Headgear on Crete
Connections of Crete expect the William Haggas-trained 6yo to make his presence felt in Ascot's ladbrokes.com Stakes.
The son of Montjeu appeared to have a race at his mercy at Yarmouth last time but hung his head slightly in the final furlong and was beaten into second.
Harry Herbert, for owners Highclere, said: "He is a really decent horse and we're running him with a visor. We know he has the ability to run a big race."
Inventor in form
Inventor joins Crete in giving owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing a strong hand in the ladbrokes.com Stakes.
Racing manager Harry Herbert said: "Inventor has been running consistently all year and he has gone on improving so he should have a big chance.
"It is very rare we run two horses in the same race but there is some good prize-money on offer and you could make a case for both horses."
Musson on Tour
Willie Musson hopes Magicalmysterytour can defy a 9lb rise when he contests the ladbrokes.com Stakes at Ascot.
The handler said: "We were highly delighted with him at Doncaster. He's been kept moving since then, he's happy and he's well.
"He has got quite an aggressive increase. Let's hope that he can manage it - but putting him up 9lb is quite a large increase."
Bell's going concern
Michael Bell hopes conditions are not too fast for Allied Powers in the ladbrokes.com Stakes at Ascot.
The trainer told At The Races: "He's in great nick and he seems to be thriving. He loves soft ground so I'm just hoping the ground doesn't dry out too much as the softer the better for him.
"He looks great. He's in really good form and I'm hopeful that the ground should be OK for him."
Conquest set for battle
Connections of Conquest are confident he will aqcuit himself well in the Bengough Memorial Stakes at Ascot.
The 4yo enjoyed his finest moment this season when landing the Stewards' Cup from Diadem winner King's Apostle.
Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners Highclere, said: "We know he's a serious horse and there have been Group winners coming out of the Stewards' Cup. He deserves to take his chance."
