Best - Draw key to Gee
Jim Best, the trainer of totesport.com Cesarewitch gamble Gee Dee Nen, has his fingers crossed for a good draw in Saturday's big Newmarket handicap.
Best only bought the 5yo after he narrowly pipped Bogside Theatre to win at the Shergar Cup meeting in August.
He said: "Luckily Frankie (Dettori) was available and that must be a plus for any horse, but it would be diabolical if we were drawn one or something."
Tough start
Gee Dee Nen will have his first run for Jim Best in Saturday's Cesarewitch.
The trainer told At The Races: "The horse is well, he came to us about six or seven weeks ago, he has settled in well and he's in good form.
"We didn't buy him for this race, we were looking for a nice Flat horse to go hurdling as jump racing is what we are really about. But he had the entry and it made sense to go for it."
Cat up for Challenge
Cat Junior will revert to 7f in Saturday's Challenge Stakes at HQ.
Trainer Brian Meehan saddled the 3yo to be second to Yaddree in a 9f conditions event at Newbury last time but he showed much better form over a mile.
Eamonn Connolly, racing manager to owners Roldvale Ltd, said: "Cat is in top form but we keep getting his distance wrong. He got outstayed at Newbury but 7f should be just right."
Tam tackles Rockfel
Debbie Mountain is preparing for one of the highest-profile moments of her training career by saddling Tamarah in the Rockfel Stakes on Saturday.
Though still a maiden, the 2yo was only beaten a neck by Racing Post Trophy entry Marching Time at Yarmouth.
Mountain said: "We're going to run and just hope to see a bit more rain. She's a nice filly and I hope Philip Robinson will be able to ride again."
