Arazan a Dewhurst doubt

John Oxx's Arazan is only "50-50" to run in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes after suffering a foot bruise.

The trainer still hopes the Anabaa colt will line up for the big 2yo race at HQ on Saturday week, but admits the horse will have to make a quick recovery.

He said: "Arazan had a nasty foot bruise at the weekend and he has missed some work. He is, however, much better and his chance is 50-50."

Head ace ruled out

Freddie Head has confirmed Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Naaqoos will not be supplemented for the Dewhurst.

In ruling out the possibility of Sheikh Hamdan's 2yo running at Newmarket or in the Racing Post Trophy, the colt will now be put away for the winter.

Head said: "It was a great performance from Naaqoos. That is it for this season, there is no possibility of him being supplemented for the Dewhurst."

Hills eyes Dewhurst

John Hills is planning to take on the crack 2yo colts with Ashram in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

The trainer reports the juvenile to be bouncing following his emphatic victory in the Somerville Tattersall Stakes at Newmarket last week.

Hills said: "He seems great. We are going to confirm him next week for the Dewhurst. If we are happy with him it's very likely he'll go there."

Hills rates Ash highly

John Hills is likely to run Ashram in the Dewhurst and he rates the colt highly among the best he's trained.

The Upper Lambourn handler said: "He's probably better at an early stage than some I've trained. Some of the other ones weren't at their best until they got a bit older.

"He is learning all the time, getting better and has turned himself into a nice two-year-old."
