Dermot Weld has warned that nothing is set in stone regarding Cheltenham plans for crack novice Rite Of Passage.

The 6yo is favourite for the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle after winning at Leopardstown.

The trainer said: "The horse is very well but Cheltenham is five weeks away. He'll be entered in the 2m and 2½m novice hurdles and we'll decide near the time - if we decide to run."

Weld plans another run

Dermot Weld is planning to give Rite Of Passage another run before sending him to the Cheltenham Festival.

The trainer said: "I'd like to run him at Punchestown next Wednesday in a 2½m conditions hurdle race and that will tell us a lot more about him.

"I have a totally open mind about it (Cheltenham). I want to run him next week over 2½m to see if he stays. He is a much stronger horse this year."
