Finnie enters Lib Dem race

Former minister Ross Finnie has entered the race for the leadership of the Scottish Liberal Democrats after Nicol Stephen quit last week.

Mr Finnie, 61, rural affairs minister from 1999 to 2007, said he has been "very encouraged" from soundings taken among colleagues and his family.

He said: "They certainly believe, or appear to believe, that I have the qualities necessary to be a leader."
