Best known as a songwriter for the likes of Usher and Christina Aguilera, Thicke drops the modern R&B stylings for a tribute to '70s soul.
This wouldn't be too bad, if Thicke wasn't trying to ape the gloopier parts of The Commodores' back catalogue.
Sidestep shows Thicke can do a decent mid-paced disco shuffle, but too much of it merely swaps one set of loverman cliches for another. 5/10
