Tory candidate resigns

A South Wales local election candidate has left the Conservative Party over allegations that he forged signatures on nomination papers.

Police are investigating the claims against Norman Whitlock who was due to stand in the Uplands ward of Swansea.

A Welsh Conservative spokesman said: "Mr Whitlock has resigned in the light of these allegations."
