Police were sent out on a 999 emergency after an anxious caller reported a "bright stationary object" in the sky -which turned out to be the Moon.

South Wales Police urgently dispatched a car to the Valleys but the nonplussed coppers soon returned to duty, having identified the heavenly body.

Police released a recording of the incident to highlight the number of inappropriate 999 calls they receive.
