Water saving targets urged
Water companies must help customers save 40% more water from 2010 after a "lacklustre" performance by some suppliers, the regulator has announced.
Ofwat is demanding firms help customers use water more wisely with savings of at least 23 million litres a day, or an average of a litre a day per property.
Ofwat promised it would not let firms increase bills to meet the targets, to begin on a trial basis from April 2009.
