Miliband plays down EU rumour

Foreign Secretary David Miliband has played down claims that he is set to abandon the Government for a senior role in Brussels.

His spokeswoman expressed surprise at a report in a German newspaper saying the 42-year-old has the support of countries including France for the job.

It cited EU diplomats, who claim he is likely to become high representative for foreign affairs next year.
