Labour MPs back windfall tax
Labour backbenchers are set to intesify pressure on Gordon Brown for a windfall tax on energy giants.
Ex-environment minister Michael Meacher said about 130 Labour MPs have now lined up in support of a tax, after the TUC vowed to put pressure on the PM.
Mr Meacher said: "This is fast becoming a defining political issue: is a Gordon Brown Government on the side of big business or the fuel-poor?"
