Aid agencies back ceasefire

Aid agencies have renewed calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and claimed that three-hour halts in fighting were not enough for humanitarian efforts.

Jerusalem-based Michael Bailey, a spokesman for Oxfam International, said the death toll now stood at more than 800, 250 of which were children.

He criticised Israel for "ambiguity" by not calling the three-hour ceasefires at the same time each day.
