Not a hard core offender

A Greater Manchester man spent a night in a police cell after being arrested for dropping an apple core.

A community support officer attempted to issue Keith Hirst, 54, with a £50 fixed penalty notice in Salford, but he refused to give his name and address.

The PCSO summoned police and Keith was charged with littering and obstructing an officer. He was held overnight but the charges were later dropped.
