PM's reputation 'in tatters'

The reputation of Prime Minister Gordon Brown for handling the nation's finances is in tatters, shadow chancellor George Osborne has claimed.

His attack comes as a poll suggested 68% of voters are "not confident at all" in the Government's ability to deal with the present turmoil.

Mr Brown is less trusted on the issue than any other major Western European leader, according to the Harris survey.
