Bid to end NHS 'lottery'

Measures to end the "postcode lottery" of drug provision will be included in a new NHS Constitution, Health Secretary Alan Johnson has said.

The draft document will enshrine a universal right to approved treatments "if clinically appropriate".

Variations in the availability of drugs between health authorities have been one of the most consistent complaints from patients in recent years.
