Thousands breach tag curfews
The number of tagged suspects breaching their curfews has almost quadrupled in three years, it has been revealed.
Nearly two-thirds of those fitted with electronic tags rather than being sent to jail while awaiting trial are now breaking the conditions of their bail.
Some 24,936 bail curfew orders were issued last year. Over the same period, the number of breaches reported by monitoring firms was 16,176.
