Inflation rises to 5%
Inflation soared to a new record in September after gas and electricity price hikes, official figures show.
The Consumer Prices Index reached 5.2% last month - the highest reading since 1997 - while the alternative Retail Prices Index increased to 5%.
The RPI is commonly used by the Government to calculate pension rises. Experts said inflation is likely to fall in coming months.
