Man dies in hit-and-run
A father out collecting conkers with his family has been killed in a hit-and-run crash which left his two-year-old son seriously ill in hospital.
Bryan Hardwick, 26, died on the A688 in Co Durham as the occupants of the car were believed to be fleeing after stealing beer from a supermarket.
His son, Liam, is "serious but stable" in hospital. Two men, aged 18 and 26, were arrested over the crash.
