Crime fight 'not hopeless'
The London Mayor insisted the fight against knife crime is not "hopeless" despite claims police stop-and-search tactics are alienating youngsters.
As Boris Johnson watched police at work on their anti-knife crime operation in east London, he said the culture of teenagers carrying knives was "silly".
His comments come a day after schoolboy David Idowu became the 19th teenager to be killed in the capital this year.
