Divorce rate at 26-year low
The number of couples getting a divorce has dropped to the lowest rate for 26 years, official figures show.
Figures show divorces in England and Wales fell for a third consecutive year in 2007, down from 12.2 divorces per 1,000 married men in 2006 to 11.9.
However, more older people, aged 60 and over, and couples in their mid to late 40s split up, the Office for National Statistics figures showed.
