Menezes photo 'not checked'

An anti-terror officer failed to check pictures which could have stopped police mistaking Jean Charles de Menezes for a bomber, an inquest heard.

Images of Hussain Osman from 2004 were not examined after he launched a failed bomb attack in London in July 2005, and officers instead relied on CCTV images.

Detective Chief Inspector Pat Mellody said surveillance photos were not examined "because events overtook us".
