Man shot dead by police

Guildford Cathedral has been sealed off after armed police shot a man dead in its grounds.

The Surrey Police incident is being probed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission. Details of the dead man are due to be released today.

Closure of the grounds of the cathedral disrupted its Advent carol service on Sunday, which was set to attract a crowd of 500 people.
