Meningitis C "superbugs" that are impervious to vaccines could pose a new threat to children, research claimed.

Scientists in the UK have identified three strains of the bacteria with heightened resistance to vaccine-triggered immune responses.

There are no vaccine-resistant strains pf meningitis C yet in the community, but experts fear if they get a foothold they could undermine the vaccine.
