Brown hails G8 progress
PM Gordon Brown has hailed progress at the G8 summit after it agreed to a carbon emissions reduction target and extra aid for Africa.
The G8, which previously only agreed to consider a 50% reduction in emissions by 2050, will now adopt the target subject to an international agreement.
The group agreed to stick to a 2005 pledge to double international aid by 2010, despite fears they could drop it.
