Ship forced to avoid liner

A cargo ship had to make a sudden turn to avoid colliding with a cruise liner with 1,700 passengers aboard, an accident report has said.

Cargo vessel the Grand Neptune had to complete a 360-degree turn to avoid the 85,000-tonne Italian-registered liner Costa Atlantica in the Dover Strait.

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch said a team on the liner was "slow to appreciate the crash risk".
