Brown plans autumn fightback

PM Gordon Brown is beginning his holiday in Suffolk planning an autumn political fightback amid continued speculation about plots to oust him.

While Mr Brown began his summer family break, senior Labour Party figures were forced to rally to his support.

Ex-deputy PM John Prescott demanded an end to "pointless" manoeuvring - and said no other minister was "anywhere near" capable of taking over at No 10.
