Schwartzel takes Masters
Charl Schwartzel shot a flawless five- under-par 66 in the final round to win the Madrid Masters by three shots ahead of Argentinian Ricardo Gonzalez.
The South African racked up two birdies on the front nine and three more on the way back to finish on 19 under par.
Gonzalez fired a three-under-par 68, while England's Robert Rock finished tied for fourth after a stunning round of 64, which saw him threaten the lead.
Schwartzel close to exit
Charl Schwartzel clinched the Madrid Masters and then revealed he had been close to pulling out of the tournament.
The South African had been suffering with a shoulder problem and a virus but decided not to withdraw after some advice from his father on Friday.
He said: "I spoke to my Dad and he told me to tee off and see how I feel. I haven't felt great but I woke up this morning and felt a lot better."
