Cook backing boss Hughes

Manchester City chief executive Garry Cook has backed manager Mark Hughes to turn things around at Eastlands in the wake of their shock FA Cup exit.

The 3-0 humbling at home to Nottingham Forest further increased the pressure on Hughes, who has presided over a disappointing Premier League campaign.

Cook told the Sun: "Mark is part of building this club, from the playing side right through."

Royle supports Hughes

Former Manchester City boss Joe Royle is confident the club will keep faith with present manager Mark Hughes.

Hughes's position at Eastlands is again in the spotlight following his side's shock FA Cup loss to Championship strugglers Nottingham Forest.

Royle told BBC Radio Five Live: "They are sensible people at City and they won't react. At the moment, Mark does not know what he has got here."

It looks like my club Villa are going to buy another load of rubbish in Downing. Come On Martin, buy some players with real class, or it's the bottom six for us next season.
