O'Neill: Barry could play
Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is considering playing wantaway skipper Gareth Barry in Saturday's Intertoto Cup clash with Odense BK at Villa Park.
And O'Neill admitted he would be happy for the long-running saga involving Barry and a possible move to Liverpool to be resolved "one way or another".
He said: "Why shouldn't he be in contention? He's a quality player and that's what we're looking for."
Barry 'perfect for Reds'
Gareth Barry and his England team-mate Steven Gerrard would make a formidable partnership in the Liverpool midfield.
That is the view of Gerrard's cousin Anthony, the Walsall defender, who has been following Barry's attempts to swap Aston Villa for life at Anfield.
He said: "Steven would like Gareth to join him at Liverpool. They are good friends and I have no doubt they would make a good partnership on the field."
