Rio preaches patience
England captain Rio Ferdinand believes patience was key in the 5-1 demolition of Kazakhstan at Wembley.
The Three Lions had to wait until the 52nd minute to bag their first goal of the game but followed that up with four strikes in the last half-an-hour.
Ferdinand said: "Gone are the days when you wipe teams away in the first 20 minutes. People must come to terms with the fact that you have to be patient."
Robson backs midfield duo
Former England manager Sir Bobby Robson believes midfield duo Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard can prosper together for the national team.
Robson insists their below-par showing at Wembley was down to the 4-3-3 formation used, and not the personnel.
He told the Mail on Sunday: "I firmly believe the two lads can play together. A 4-4-2 formation would give them a chance to flourish."
Walcott happy to wait
Theo Walcott has told England fans not to expect fireworks every game.
Walcott, 19, was happy with his display in the 5-1 win over Kazakhstan but knew he would be unlikely to repeat his hat-trick heroics in Croatia.
He said: "I just have to work hard and play as well as I can for the team - that is all you can do. Some fans know that. Some fans want you to push on, but I've got plenty of time."
